Community services

A community hub in Rozelle, open to everyone.

This page is for you if you live, work, or spend time in Sydney's Inner West. You may be looking for a friendly cup of tea, a free meal, a social group, parenting support, or a place to volunteer. No referral needed. No questions asked.

How it works

No forms first. No appointments. Just turn up.

1

Drop in or call

No appointment needed. Drop into 754 Darling Street, Rozelle, or call us. We will put the kettle on.

2

Have a cup of tea

Tell us what is going on. We listen. No forms first. No questions you have to answer.

3

Take what you need

Maybe a meal. Maybe a parenting group. Maybe a hand getting on the housing list. We help you work out the next step.

What we offer

A safe place to connect, get a hand, or give one.

Food and meals

Breadnesday on Wednesdays (free fresh bread, 10am to noon). Pop-Up Pantry on Fridays (free fruit and veg, no questions asked). Good in the Hood weekly meal deliveries.

Social groups and trips

Monthly BBQ Hub. Community gardening at the Patch. Intergenerational program for seniors and young people. Free Belvoir Theatre trips for pension card holders.

Parenting groups

Tuning in to Kids — a 6-week course that helps parents understand and respond to their child's emotions, so the whole family communicates better.

Volunteering

Most of what we do is run by volunteers. Two hours a week or twenty — there is a place for you. Drop in to have a chat or call us.

What it costs

Most of what we do is free.

Our community programs are paid for by Inner West Council, the NSW Government, and the Australian Government. Our food relief partners — OzHarvest, Mission Australia, Anglicare, and others — donate the food. That means most things you see on this page cost you nothing.

  • Free. Breadnesday, Pop-Up Pantry, food relief, monthly BBQ, gardening, intergenerational program, Belvoir Theatre trips for pension card holders.
  • Small fee. A few programs (like Tuning in to Kids) have a small cost to cover materials. We will tell you up front.
  • Money tight? Tell us. We will work it out together. No one is turned away.

What happens next

Your first three contacts with us.

  1. First contact (a phone call, an email, or you walk in)

Whatever is easiest. The door is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

  2. A cuppa with one of the team (about 30 minutes)

We get to know you. We listen. No forms unless you need a service that asks for them.

  3. You take part

Drop in for the next BBQ. Pick up bread on Wednesday. Sign up for a parenting group. Whatever fits.

Who can I talk to?

"I came in for a loaf of bread on a Wednesday and I stayed for the cup of tea. Six months later I am volunteering on Fridays and I have got friends I would not have made anywhere else."
